2026 Chevrolet SUV Lineup Compared

Published on Oct 27, 2026 by Sarchione Chevy of Randolph

A Randolph driveway might call for a five-seat commuter or an eight-seat hauler, and Chevrolet builds both, plus five models in between.

The 2026 Chevrolet SUV lineup runs from the five-seat Trax up to the eight-seat Suburban. In order, that's Trax, Trailblazer, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban. Cargo space and towing capacity grow as you move up, so pick the smallest model that covers your passengers and whatever you're hauling.

Here are the seven gas-powered 2026 models, smallest to largest. Cargo is listed the way each model reports it, so it's worth reading the labels before you compare.

Trax and Trailblazer: the starting point

The 2026 Chevy Trax seats five and comes with front-wheel drive only. A 1.2L Turbo 3-cylinder with 137 hp powers it. It's EPA-estimated at 30 MPG combined, though your mileage will vary with how and where you drive. It isn't rated to tow, so it's a daily driver. Five trims run from the LS to the ACTIV.

Step up to the 2026 Chevy Trailblazer and you get a little more flexibility. It seats up to five adults and offers AWD, and it can tow up to 1,000 lbs. Chevrolet gives its cargo space as up to 8.5 ft of max cargo length. The ACTIV and RS move up to a 1.3L Turbo with 155 hp. With the 1.3L Turbo and front-wheel drive, it's EPA-estimated at 31 mpg combined. Pick the ACTIV and you also get off-road suspension tuning plus a functional skid plate. You can pick the LS, LT, ACTIV or RS.

Equinox and Blazer: the everyday middle

The 2026 Chevy Equinox seats five and offers up to 63.5 cu. ft. of max cargo space, and the rear seat splits 60/40 and folds. Its 1.5L turbo makes 175 hp, and AWD is available. Properly equipped, it'll tow up to 1,500 lbs. If you want something more rugged, the ACTIV rides on all-terrain tires with its own suspension tuning, and the LT and RS are the other two choices.

The 2026 Chevy Blazer seats five. It edges past the Equinox at 64.2 cu. ft. of max cargo space, and it has a 9-speed automatic. The standard 2.0L turbo makes 228 hp. On the RS, you can add a 3.6L V6 for 308 hp. Advanced Twin-Clutch AWD is standard on the RS. Add the Trailering Package to the V6 and you can tow up to 4,500 lbs, which is a real step up from the Equinox. Trims are the 2LT, 3LT and RS.

Traverse: room for the whole family

The 2026 Chevy Traverse seats seven as standard, and the LT can seat up to eight with the available second-row bench. The 2026 Traverse pairs a turbocharged 2.5L engine, rated at 328 hp, with an 8-speed automatic. Towing tops out at 5,000 lbs with standard trailering equipment.

Cargo is where the third row matters, so here's how it breaks down. With all three rows up you'll have 22.9 cu. ft. behind the last one, and it grows to 56.6 cu. ft. behind the second row. Fold everything and you reach 98 cu. ft. AWD is available, and the Z71 includes the Advanced Twin-Clutch AWD System along with all-terrain tires. You can choose from the LT, Z71, RS or High Country. If seats for everyone are your top priority, our third-row SUVs page gathers them in one place.

Tahoe and Suburban: the biggest in the lineup

The 2026 Chevy Tahoe seats eight as standard, with seven or nine available if your crew is smaller or larger than that. It has up to 122.7 cu. ft. of max cargo space and tows up to 8,400 lbs. Under the hood, you can choose a 5.3L V8 making 355 hp. The 6.2L V8 steps up to 420 hp. If you'd rather run diesel, there's a Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel at 305 hp, offered from the LT on up. Six trims run from the LS up to the High Country.

The 2026 Chevy Suburban matches the Tahoe on seating options and trims, and offers the same three engines. It tows up to 8,200 lbs. Cargo is measured by row, with 144.5 cu. ft. behind the first row and 41.5 behind the third. That's why a Suburban number and a Tahoe max number don't line up one for one.

Which Chevy SUV fits your situation

Start with the passengers you carry most days. From there, check cargo and towing against what you actually haul in a typical month, because that's what decides whether a model feels roomy or tight.

  • Your first SUV: The Trax and Trailblazer both seat five and keep things simple. The Trailblazer adds available AWD and can tow a light load.
  • A longer commute: The Trax is EPA-estimated at 30 MPG combined, and the Trailblazer with the 1.3L Turbo and front-wheel drive is EPA-estimated at 31 mpg combined.
  • A family of five or more: The Traverse seats seven or eight, and the Tahoe and Suburban start at eight seats.
  • Hauling a trailer: Match the trailer to the rating. The Blazer tows up to 4,500 lbs with the right equipment, and the Traverse goes to 5,000. For bigger loads, look at the Tahoe and Suburban, where the Suburban reaches 8,200 lbs and the Tahoe 8,400.
  • Added traction: AWD is available on the Trailblazer, Equinox and Traverse, and it's standard on the Blazer RS.

Electric SUVs in the lineup

Chevrolet also builds the Equinox EV and Blazer EV, and they're separate from the gas models above. See both on our page for Chevy electric vehicles.
